John Hancorn is music director of the Brighton Early Music Festival Singers, Baroque Collective Singers, East Sussex Bach Choir and Eastbourne Choral Society and co-director of The Baroque Collective. He regularly leads workshops and masterclasses throughout the UK and teaches at Trinity College of Music, the University of Chichester, the East Sussex Academy of Music and Lancing College. He directed chamber choir courses at Dartington and taught at Christ’s Hospital school for many years, and is a tutor at AIMS Summer School.
‘He is such a skilful, sensitive and experienced musician and he brings great beauty and drama to whatever piece he conducts in the most natural, unforced, but telling way. He has a seemingly easy rapport with singers and players alike which brings out the best from his musicians, but at the same time demands alert concentration; an effective combination of security and discipline with lively creativity.’
Sir John Tomlinson
